ABOUT THE FOUNDER - SUMIT KUMAR YADAV


With a background in Fashion Communication Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and experience as a visiting faculty, Sumit Kumar Yadav brings a design-led approach rooted in textiles, storytelling, and cultural context. His work focuses on creating kidswear that is thoughtful, functional, and emotionally meaningful, without being driven by fast fashion or short-lived trends.



Half Balloon began from a personal shift rather than a commercial plan. When Sumit became Mama to his newborn nephew, he experienced childhood again from the caregiver’s side through everyday routines, small milestones and moments of care that brought back memories of his own upbringing.


That experience revealed how closely childhood and parenting are connected across generations. While caring for a child, adults often reconnect with their own early years. This understanding became the foundation of Half Balloon, designing kidswear that supports children in the present, while holding space for the memories adults carry with them.
